About Scarsdale, NY - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
The Village of Scarsdale was once a rural town. But, in the late 19th century, the Arthur Suburban Home Company changed that by purchasing 150 acres of farmland. They rapidly built it up into a single-family home suburban community. Bylaws within the contracts for the sale of the house forbid the land be used for commerce. The lovely seasonal weather, stunning landscapes, proximity to water and nearness to the city all made this an amazing place for families to raise kids.
Over the next ten years, the town grew and by 1904 it was a bustling and spirited community. The town's first store opened in 1912 and schools were built in 1917. The Scarsdale Woman's Club began publishing The Scarsdale Inquirer in 1919. For the next four decades it was owned and staffed entirely by women. In the 20’s, there was a boom of new construction. The Bronx River Parkway was opened in 1924. The truly unique thing about this town is that is still essentially the same in many ways as it was over 100 years ago. The same tree-lined streets bloom green in the spring and bear lovely colorful leaves in the autumn. Scarsdale has made an effort to retain its original charm and homey feel. They have maintained its quaint family appeal by passing zoning laws prohibiting commercial use of real estate.
The town hosts a Farmer’s Market in the Village Center at Boniface Circle in the fall when the weather is just right for walking around and shopping. Vendors include: PickleLicious, Taliaferro Farm, Jack Jack Knife Sharpening, DoReMe Farm, The Cheese Guy, Mind, Body & Bath, Irvington Delight - Middle Eastern foods, Dam Good English Muffins, Hudson River Apiaries, Mozzarella4U, Jeneric Bags - fine hand sewn quilted items, Alpacatrax - felt, fiber, and wool, and many, many more.
