About Rye Brook, NY - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Rye Brook’s Town history began in 1640 when property was purchased from the Mohegan Indians and the first colonists settled. They were from Greenwich, Connecticut and they bought up all of the land in the area. The town may have been named for Rye, which is in Sussex, England. It was the former home of some of the settlers so it makes sense. The area slowly grew until the 19th century when the whole region saw a population boom. The seasonal weather, proximity to the city, and more all drew people in from all over. Communities within Rye ultimately recognized themselves as four separate municipalities:
- Port Chester
- Mamaroneck
- Rye Neck
- Rye Brook
In 1942, it seceded to be converted into a part of the city and it was the last unincorporated community in the town until it became its own village (and was no longer part of the town) and remained that way until July 7, 1982 when it became a Village. But Rye Brook is still very much a part of the Rye community and the residents enjoy exceptional public facilities shared with the Town of Rye such as Crawford Park, which is the site of the Annual Rye Brook Birthday Party. It is a family-friendly summertime festival that is as much fun as it sounds. Kids can stay cool with ice cream cones and play games to win prizes. Parents enjoy the lovely weather, music and more.
Do you like to be outdoors? Especially in the spring and summer when the weather is warm? Well, you definitely will not be disappointed with your visit to any one of the many local recreational facilities or green spaces. Parks are a big part of what make this area so amazing – particularly for families. Garabaldi Park, Harkness Park, Crawford Park, Magnolia Park, the Rye Brook-King Street Athletic Fields and Rich Manor Park are all awesome places to check out when the weather is right.
