About Bronxville, NY - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Just one square mile of glorious green hills and valley, it is hard to believe that The Village of Bronxville is just 15 miles north of Manhattan. This a pleasant village on the banks of the Bronx River its roots back to the mid 1600’s when Native Americans signed a deed transferring the land to European settlers. It was named after Jonas Bronck. The community gradually grew into a thriving agricultural community during the 1700s. The Village, however, was not incorporated until 1898. Now, more than 6,500 residents call Bronxville home. In the fall, the crisp winds blow colorful autumn leaves all around the Tudor, Colonial and Victorian homes that line the green and safe streets. Come summer, it is tank tops and bicycles as the kids get out of school and are out enjoying the warm weather and sunshine. Close knit neighborhoods have been the trademark of Bronxville from day one and all of the communities in the area do everything that they can to preserve the authenticity of their neighborhoods and culture.
If you are interested in getting out and seeing some local art or eating some delicious food then head to the Central Business District. The streets are lined with designer clothing boutiques, antique shops, galleries, book stores, delis, florists and more. As you walk around, the family-friendly atmosphere is hard to deny. Kids are savoring dripping ice cream cones in the summer and scurrying about in hats and snow boots in the winter. It is just a lovely place to be, at any time of year.
Bronxville also has an amazing reputation as a center of learning and feminism. The Crownlands is a neighborhood where JFK lived as a child. It was planned and started by a man named William Lawrence but he had much more in mind than residences when construction began in the late 19th century. Lawrence Hospital was built in 1909, and not long after, Sarah Lawrence College was established in memory of his wife. Sarah Lawrence boasts distinguished graduates like Barbara Walters and is widely regarded as one of the best liberal arts colleges in the nation. The campus is beautiful year-round but particularly beautiful when everything is in bloom in the spring.
